When a hand is complete who needs to show there hand, who shows first, and who has a choice?

I could be wrong, but I believe the bettor has to show first. If the bettor's hand wins, the other players who may have called the bet, I believe, have the opportunity to muck.
Experts, please correct me if I'm wrong.

True... the bettor or person first to act has to show first. The loser does not have to show their hand, BUT if the winner ask to see it... they have to show it before it reaches the mucked cards.

I wasn't aware of this rule, and I don't recall ever seeing it enforced. (not to imply you aren't correct!) Is it more of a gentlemen's agreement "I won't ask to see yours if you don't ask to see mine"?

This rule exists to prevent collusion (in form of chip dumping). Asking a player to see to show his/her losing hand implicates that you think the player is cheating.

Correct, if someone asks you to show your cards when you are the loser (and not the bettor), then that is generally seen as an accusation, or someone looking to get an insight into what you will play with.

I've not seen that rule actively enforced, and by and large only the bettor will show if s/he wins the hand, and anyone else still in will muck.
